Peter  SCHNEIDER

 

 Peter Schneider che è nato nel 1951, e che è sposato con due figli, vive tra Los Angeles e New York ed è noto soprattutto per la sua multiforme carriera cinematografica e teatrale.

 Ha diretto grandi successi come "Sister Act", "Regina" e il remake di "Grand Hotel" e nel campo del cinema animato è stato co-produttore di un campione di incasso come "The Lion King".

 Per 17 anni è stato Presidente dell'Animazione e Chairman dello Studio per la Walt Disney Company per la quale ha diretto oltre 50 film, tra i quali si possono contare enormi successi come, ad esempio: "Toy Story" e "Roger Rabbit".

 Direttore del St. Nicholas Theater di Chicago, ha anche trovato il tempo per diventare un World Life Master che ha vinto ad Estoril nel 2005 il Transnational Open Teams.

Peter Schneider is an American film and theatrical producer, notable as the first president of Walt Disney Feature Animation for The Walt Disney Company from 1985 to 1999.and was responsible for helping to turn the feature animation department around and creating some of the most critically acclaimed and highest grossing animated features that Disney released. These films included Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991, the first animated feature to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture), Aladdin (1992), and The Lion King (1994), the highest domestic grossing animated film of all time until 2003.

Schneider also sealed the deal that created the highly successful partnership between Pixar and Disney. He was promoted to studio chief in 1999.

In 2001, Schneider left Disney to form his own theater production company. Peter graduated from Purdue University in 1972 with a Theatre degree.

Along with producer Don Hahn, Schneider produced a documentary entitled Waking Sleeping Beauty in 2009, which focused on the revival of Disney animation during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Schneider is also a world champion bridge player, having won the World Transnational Open Teams Championship in 2005.

He possesses the title of World Bridge Federation (WBF) World Life Master (WLM).

Peter Schneider est une personnalité américaine du cinéma, connu pour avoir été le premier président de Walt Disney Animation Studios — l'un des studios d'animation de la Walt Disney Company — de 1985 à 199.

 Il a contribué à la création de quelques uns des films les mieux accueillis par la critique et récoltant les plus grosses recettes, que Disney n'ait jamais produit ; on peut citer Qui veut la peau de Roger Rabbit (1988), La Petite Sirène (1989), La Belle et la Bête (1991, premier long métrage d'animation à avoir été nommé pour l'Oscar du meilleur film), Aladdin (1992) et Le Roi lion (1994), le plus gros succès au box-office des films d'animation jusqu'en 2003.

Schneider a aussi conclu un accord qui a donné naissance au très fructueux partenariat entre Pixar et Disney. En 2001, Schneider quitte Disney pour fonder sa propre compagnie de production cinématographique. En 2009, avec le producteur Don Hahn, Schneider a produit un documentaire nommé Waking Sleeping Beauty qui retrace le retour sur le devant de la scène des studios Disney au cours des années 1980 et du début des années 1990.

Il a fait ses études à la Purdue University.

Il est également un joueur de bridge de haut niveau et a remporté en 2005 le World Transnational Open Teams Championships.
