Campaign themes
2014
Morgillo's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Term Limits
- Excerpt: "I support term limits. I want to ensure that no one politician can become so entrenched that they believe they “own” the elected position they hold, instead of earning the right and honor to represent their constituency in each and every election."
Fraud and Abuse
- Excerpt: "My pledge is to go after those who commit fraud and abuse, and report back to the taxpayers how much money is recovered and saved, to reduce the unnecessary costs of these programs, thereby reducing the tax burden."
Transportation
- Excerpt: "Transportation is essential for all of us, urban, suburban, and rural. Orange County is home to thousands of commuters and businesses, and the need for the new Tappan Zee Bridge to provide access for public transportation for buses, trains, personal vehicles and commercial traffic is key to expanding business opportunities in the Hudson Valley."
- Excerpt: "No matter where else our transportation revenue comes from, I assure you that I will be insisting on a full review to determine the appropriateness of the spending of our tax dollars on transportation and improvements."
Tax Reform
- Excerpt: "There are 120 Assembly Members and 63 Senators, each having similar or exact same staff titles, however all doing the same type work. One of my recommendations is an administrative staffing pool that can be shared by the various Assembly Members and Senators. This would save millions of taxpayer dollars. This is only one way to save taxpayer dollars, by thinking outside the box I’m sure we could save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars that they could spend a lot better than our elected officials."
