1969 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750

This 1969 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 was purchased by the current owner on BaT in November 2021 following a refurbishment completed five years earlier. Power is from a 1,779cc Twin Cam inline-four that has been fitted with 2.0L-specification camshafts, a pair of Weber DCOE 40 carburetors, and an electronic ignition system. The car wears a repaint in red over black vinyl upholstery, and it is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, silver 15″ GTA-style wheels, Koni shocks, yellow-lens forward lamps, flying buttress seats, woodgrain cabin trim, and a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel. Work under current ownership has included fitting stainless-steel brake lines and replacing the steering idler box, brake booster, coolant reservoir tank, valve cover gaskets, and carburetor jets. This GTV 1750 is now offered on dealer consignment in Washington State with a recent invoice, correspondence from Museo Storico Alfa Romeo, and a clean Ohio title.

The Bertone-designed body was stripped and mounted to a rotisserie jig during the refurbishment under prior ownership. Metalwork was performed, the body was refinished in red, and a clearcoat was applied. Features include quad headlights, yellow-lens inner lamps, bright window trim, pop-out rear quarter windows, and Quadrifoglio C-pillar badges. The bumpers have been removed and the front mounting holes have been plugged.

Silver-finished 15″ Alfaholics GTA-style wheels are mounted with Yokohama S.drive tires. Koni shocks have been added, and the car was factory equipped with an independent double-wishbone setup with an anti-roll bar up front paired with a live-axle, lower trailing arms, and a reaction trunnion out back. The brakes were bled, the steering idler box and brake booster were replaced, and stainless-steel braided brake lines were installed in May 2022.

The flying buttress seats were unique to the model year, and they have been reupholstered in black vinyl. The cabin features color-coordinated door panels as well as woodgrain dashboard and console trim. Interior appointments include manual-crank windows, pop-out pivoting rear side windows, and a heater. The headliner has been replaced, and a remote trunk-release mechanism has been installed. The horn, heater valve, and cabin fan were repaired in May 2022.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The transmission and differential fluids were changed in May 2022, when a sump guard was fitted.

Correspondence from Museo Storico Alfa Romeo lists the chassis number, AR 1530253, as well as production specifications. The reproduction firewall plate erroneously indicates Tipo 10562, which would be consistent with a 1750 Spider Veloce.
