This morning, I found some cool pictures of a Rafale B under construction. There are very fine details of the landing gear bays.

Hello
Now, 20h30
A very sad news, two Rafale M ( from carrier CdG ) have crashed in mediterranean sea, only one pilote has been recovered, may be rescued if he is still alive (we don't know ).

Hi DarthCholocate!

Sorry for the message in French. Bjarnes was asking if the model will be freely available.
Of course it will be the case. The final version will be published on the official CVS. Meanwhile, some beta versions will be available for download on an other website.

But there are still a lot of things to do before a first release :

  • Re-modeling of the HOTAS system
  • Creation of some textures for the landing gear bays and the air entries
  • Animation of some redundant instruments in the virtual cockpit
  • Creation of the missing textures for the VC
  • Cleanup of the various XML files
  • Post-combustion and light effects
  • Testing... and fixing...

I'm currently quite satisfied with the FDM. The plane is very stable and respects the speed limits of the real one. I had some strange roll-in moves when opening the flaps, but it's fixed now.

I have nothing new to show today, because I'm still modeling this damned stick. It seems that there are approximately 30 buttons on both stick and throttle!
So I posted an external view of the cockpit to make you have patience...

Two French Rafale fighter aicraft from the carrier Charles de Gaulle crashed in the Mediterranean on Thursday during a test flight, the military said.
One pilot has been rescued, another is still missing.

The Rafale, made by Dassault Aviation, is France's most advanced fighter. Brazil has been negotiating to buy the aircraft, which would be its first export order.

The accident took place about 30 km from the southwestern city of Perpignan. A spokesman for Dassault had no comment.

"It was a training mission, not an operational mission. The search is continuing for the second pilot," an armed forces spokeswoman said. A rescue vessel, a civilian helicopter and two military planes were taking part in the search. Source: Reuters

Never good news to hear... :(

I'm still working on the VC... The stick and the throttle have been redesigned and the rudder pedals have been added.
I have no idea what to display on the two lower MFD. And you?

scifi1972,

This looks great! I was climbing in Haute Durance a couple of weeks ago, and saw what I initially thought were Eurofighters flying at low level through the valleys a couple of times. However, I now think they must have been Rafale.

I don't know what is displayed on the lower MFD IRL. The display on the bottom right in the picture looks like it show fuel and engine information.

I look forward to flying this in FG!

Here you can see the results of my first experimentations with the light effects.
Not too bad, after just 20 minutes of work :D
