Gorman was an alcoholic grifter on New York's East Side Skid Row when chosen by Lionel Rogosin to "co-star" in the critically acclaimed, 1957 released, documentary-styled movie, "On The Bowery".

Diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, Hendricks promised Rogosin he wouldn't drink during the extended filming. With supervision, he didn't; but he went on an alcoholic binge and died shortly after filming stopped.

I pieced this Memorial together after watching "On The Bowery" (with background features). I'll be glad to make any additions or corrections.
