Robert Jordan Dead

Robt. Jordan died Sunday night, December 9th, at his home on Adams Street, after an illness of many years.
The funeral services were held at the First Methodist Episcopal church, Tuesday, December 11th at 1 o'clock. Rev. E. R. Houck, officiating, after which the body was taken to the Ural cemetery for interment.
Robert Jordan was born in Terome County, Ireland, November 26, 1841. When eighteen months old his parents moved to Canada, afterwards to New Hampshire, then later in other states of the United States, coming to the Panhandle of Texas in 1885. Twenty-two years ago he moved to the farm four and a half miles southeast of Elk City, on Elk Creek, where he lived until about two months ago, when he sold his farm and moved to Elk City. About ten years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never recovered and had been a sufferer since that date to his death.
Deceased was a Union soldier having served over three years in the 36th Illinois Volunteers.
He was a hard working man when in health and was known for his honesty and uprightness, was a good neighbor and friend.
He leaves a wife and seven children, Mrs. J.J. Moore of Strong City; Lee Jordan, Deadwood, S. D.; Arthur Jordan, Pampa, Texas; Mrs. Bardie Andrews, Anadarko; Mrs. Maggie Hughes and Robert and Melvin Jordan of Elk City, all of whom were with him at his death, also two grandchildren, Clara and Ray Jordan, children of his son, Charles Jordan, who was killed in a gin near here twelve years ago.
The sympathy of our people are extended to the bereaved ones.
