Sad, they sold our beloved Love Sculpture ?
About two years ago I notice the Love Sculpture missing from its spot at 1359 Avenue Of The Americas, I google it and read it was being cleaned and I expected it to be returned.
Well, two years later I am reminded that New York lost one of its most favorite tourist photo-taking spots when I see the Sculpture in the new waterfront development in Naga City. The Philippines !!!
Yeah maybe it's a duplicate of the design by artist Robert Indiana in the 1950s, but how do you know for sure, that's not our Love Sculpture gone forever ?Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - 31212607013Oct 5, 2018
New York has so many cool photo op spots, it's hard to pick just one. But this LOVE sign is as iconic as the bull on Wall street.
As always, expect a lineup, but if it's rainy/cloudy you might get lucky. The picture just won't be as nice as if it were sunny.
I posed on the statue with my sister 8 YEARS AGO! this time around I was content with just sitting in a cafe and watching others have a go.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 5000386971921Feb 14, 2017
I always feel like this sculpture belongs in Philadelphia. That was the first time I saw the LOVE Sculpture. I saw it or something similar when my daughter ran the Philadelphia Marathon.
When I saw this Sculpture in NYC I thought it was out of place. When I hang out in Mid-town I pass it frequently. It's fun to watch everyone pose for vacation photos in front.
Today is Valentine's Day. It's very appropriate that my daughter and her friends took a walk during lunch and posed in front of the Love Sculpture. The photo will be a keeper for sure even though I have no idea who took it!
Enjoy the photo for now. I may be asked to take it down. If you Love Love and love Sculptures stop for a photo opportunity when you're in NYC. Or just take a walk during lunch if you work nearby.
NYC IS full of loving people!Helpful 70Thanks 0Love this 61Oh no 0 - 3518047733Aug 27, 2017
When I lived and worked in Philadelphia I used to enjoy seeing their Robert Indiana "Love Sculpture!" Since I was vacationing in NYC I walked down the Avenue of the Americas to do my own little "public art crawl."
I loved the reflection of the sculpture by the sun in the early morning hours...it literally "radiated" rays across the back of the sculpture where a fresh fruit cart was set up....
I put my hands on it to "feel" the "love" in the Big Apple...good karma...and "love" how can you go wrong with those options!?Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mar 22, 2017
What is LOVE?
To art aficionados, it is an iconic pop art image by Robert Indiana, an American artist. The original incarnation of this image had red lettering on green and blue for the Museum of Modern Art Christmas card in 1964. Now, it graces multiple cities and inspires so many people!
However, since the first image was created in my birth year, I feel I was destined to stand in front of this sculpture with the love of my life, my wife!

My second favorite LOVE sculpture, Phillies is still the best to me.
Awesome sculpture surrounded by the New York skyscrapers.
Located by Central Park.
Somewhat touristy but not difficult to get a picture with it.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Joy S.Gadsden, AL117191871Feb 17, 2019
Added the Love Sculpture to "must see list" in NYC. However we almost didn't go because all that walking was taking a toll on our feet. Our dogs were barking for sure! But we detoured over a couple blocks (it's really close to Radio City and Macy's and lots of other stuff you want to see) and we weren't disappointed!
I "love" that there is random art and beauty sprinkled all over Manhattan. Get it? Ok. But this was a great stop with my sweetie and there was a little line to have pics made. The people in front/ behind will be happy to take your pic because then you can return the favor! Don't be afraid to canoodle and get a great shot. Bonus: you can use it for your custom Valentine's Day card and really show your other half how much you care. Extra bonus points if they listened when you said you really don't like cards and actually didn't get you a card. But I digress.
Make the trek by this iconic sculpture and don't pass up a primo photo op!
* If you're wondering: yes I did get a gift. It was sparkly and wearable. My bf is amazing he only listened a little too well this time. :)Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 31, 2016
The Love statue is only a couple of blocks from my hotel at the NY Hilton and Towers in Midtown. It has been there every time I visit. It is just an interesting piece of architecture for a photo shoot.
NYC has art everywhere. Some of them are indeed unique and original. Love makes the world go round!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Mar 11, 2019
I grew up a bit sheltered, so being able to actually travel to places and find things that I only knew in 2-D form has been a huge goal. With the Love Sculpture and seeing it on stamps, friends' Instagrams, variations of it in books and social media, etc., I made a point to see if hubby and I could go.
We came in at night time, so there was a very small line of people wanting to take pictures with it. Everyone was very friendly and polite, and we helped a group get their pictures taken. The sculpture does not light up, so if you're using an Instax Mini, it likely will still be a pretty dark picture. I can see people getting great shots during the day, though, and, of course, plenty of proposals have been made here.
Near Times Square/Central Park, but a bit more east. Definitely accessible, but you'd want to take the subway or walk on over from Times Square. So happy to have finally made a trek here, but looking forward to making another visit when it's during the day!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
