The Perfect Bacon Roll

Italians love their cornetti, New Yorkers like a bagel, Canadians buy a Timmies but the way to a Scot’s breakfast heart is undoubtedly the bacon roll.
But it must be made right!
The rolls should be morning rolls, bought early that morning from the nearest newspaper shop. Not too well fired, meltingly soft inside with a very slightly crisp crust.
