Thank you The Superyacht Group and Jack Hogan for inviting me to expand on a recent post about the contradictory viewpoints of two industry leaders, and my thoughts on where the industry should be heading in relation to climate change. Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss) MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association #superyachts #yachting #environment #zerocarbonyachting #alternativefuels #carbonemissions #superyacht2030 #innovation #future #technology #alternativeenergy #sustainability #showyourstripes

Malcolm Jacotine thank you for your insights! The industry needs to avoid a bis repetita of a Volkswagen scenario at all costs. Superyacht owners who keep the industry in business deserve to have choices that will help them avoid acquiring assets that can become stranded in the future.

It is clear from this article that there is a divide within the superyacht industry on the issue of climate change and sustainability. While some believe that the industry can continue with "business as usual," others recognize that the environment and climate change pose an existential threat to the industry. The lack of data on emissions and energy efficiency in the superyacht industry makes it difficult to set meaningful targets and track progress towards sustainability goals. It is imperative that the industry works to collect and share this data in order to support its commitment to align with the goals of the International Maritime Organization and the Paris Agreement. Without concrete action and measurable commitments, it will be difficult for the industry to address the challenges of climate change and ensure its long-term sustainability. Malcolm Jacotine , as always, thank you for your post and input. The Superyacht Group 👍👍 Great article!

Probably the most important article and call for action for Yachting this decade. Its time to act fast and get our heads out of the sand or Taxation and regulation will come down very hard on our sector. Well done Malcolm for pioneering the discussion and call to action.

Finally got around to reading it. Great insights! Yes, the need for data is crucial. Once you have data, you can create benchmarks that you can measure. Borrowed from six sigma: design, measure, analyze, improve and control. We need to design some concrete ways to measure it, so that the data can be analyzed and improved!
