Renowned Chef Opens Root To Tail In English Village

Chef Ben Vaughn's restaurant, Root to Tail, serves farm-to-table American fare with a French influence and is located in English Village.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL —Mountain Brook's culinary scene has continued to expand with the addition of chef Ben Vaughn's new restaurant, Root to Tail. Located in English Village in the space previously occupied by Iz Neighborhood Grocery, the eatery serves farm-to-table American fare with a French influence.

Vaughn, a Florida native, has owned restaurants in Memphis, Atlanta and Las Vegas before making the move to Birmingham. He also has hosted Food Network's "Health Inspectors" and Travel Channel's "Buffet Buddies," as well as judged FYI's "World Food Championships."

As we've reported, the restaurant will serve American dishes cooked with French techniques in 50 seats around butcher block-style tables made of reclaimed wood. Another 20 customers can enjoy patio dining
