This new book is the encapsulation of Rob’s experiences, from the first 30 day challenge he set for himself to sketchnote every meeting, to attending international sketchnote events, and teaching people in person and online, sketchnoting as a practice.
Rob says:
“Ever since I started making sketchnotes about science stuff – whether it was based on content from a science seminar or publication – I have received quite a few requests from friends and colleagues to document how I made those sketchnotes. I think that the big part of the issue is that it’s not an easy task for me.
For me, making a sketchnote from scientific content is the most challenging application of sketchnoting. It’s especially difficult to make a sketchnote of scientific content that's outside of my own discipline. It took me some time to develop a workflow and I had to put in more time to practice that workflow.
Last year I decided to bite the bullet and write it all down. One thing that I wanted to do was to make the book a companion manual for a workshop I will give on making sketchnotes from scientific content.
The result is that there are many exercises throughout the book in which the reader will make sketchnotes from scientific abstracts, publications, and presentations. There are links in the book to all of those that the reader can access and practice sketchnoting at their own pace.
I hope it’s useful. When I was starting out, it’s the book that I would have liked to read right after reading The Sketchnote Handbook by Mike Rohde.
