Mike Worley enters his 11th season as an assistant coach with Troy men's basketball in 2023-24. Worley is Troy's recruiting coordinator and is one of the longest-tenured assistant coaches in the Sun Belt Conference.

In his 11 years at Troy, Worley has helped lead the Trojans to three 20-win seasons and two postseason appearances, including being a member of the 2016-17 Trojan team that won 22 games, the Sun Belt Tournament and battled Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

In 2022-23, Worley helped the Trojans to a 20-13 overall record, including an 11-7 Sun Belt record and a berth in the Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinals. The Trojans far exceeded projections, finishing fifth in the league, just a game out of fourth and three out of first, after being picked 10th in the preseason poll.

The non-conference slate saw the Trojans knock off Florida State, 79-72, in Tallahassee; Troy's first victory over a major-conference opponent since 2012 and first against an ACC opponent since a 1981 victory over Georgia Tech. Additionally, Troy led national-runner up San Diego State by eight points midway through the second half of a 5-point loss to the Aztecs.

Worley helped Troy land a star-studded 2020 signing class that included the program's first four-star commitment (Antwan Burnett) in program history, two ASWA Super Five selections (Kam Woods and Duke Miles), and a three-time Alabama State Player of the Year (Woods).

He also led the charge that brought Christyon Eugene to Troy before the 2021-22 season and Aamer Muhammad before the 2022-23 season. Prior to the 2023-24 season, Eugene was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team and Muhammad landed on the Preseason All-Sun Belt Third Team.

Before Troy, Worley spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Kilgore College (2010-13). In his final season with Kilgore, Worley led the Rangers to a Region XIV regular season title and a 27-6 overall record. These feats propelled the team to the NJCAA National Tournament and a Sweet 16 berth.

In three years (2005-08), Worley jumped around the Arkansas area to open his coaching career. His first role came at Arkansas-Fort Smith (2005-06). Worley helped lead the Lions to a 33-3 record and the 2006 NJCAA National Championship game, where they defeated Tallahassee CC. The team also collected a Bi-State Conference and Region Two title in that season.

Then in 2006-07, Worley jumped to the Arkansas Aeros for the 2006-07 season. As a member of the Aeros, he assisted current Central Oklahoma and former Mercer head coach Bob Hoffman in the American Basketball Association (ABA). While with the Aeros, the team seized a 25-2 record and the south division title as the top-rated team in the ABA, averaging 133 points per game.

Finally, Worley spent the 2007-08 season with the Arkansas Impact, serving as an assistant for former NBA star Todd Day in the Premier Basketball League (PBL). Despite a 14-10 record, his team claimed the western division title and competed in the 2007-08 PBL Championship game against the Rochester Razorsharks.

As a player, Worley opened his career at Coffeyville CC in 1993, where he averaged 18.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game – shot an impressive 87% from the line. As a member of Coffeyville CC, Worley was named the inaugural NJCAA Male Athlete of the Year award winner (David Rowlands Award).

Worley transferred to Creighton as a scholarship player from Coffeyville CC before finishing his career at Denver. While at Denver, Worley was a three-time Dean's list selection. He graduated with his undergraduate degree in mass communications with a minor in philosophy and earned his master's degree in sports management from the Daniels College of Business at Denver.

He competed at Swink High School in La Junta, Colorado, where he was a two-time Colorado 2A Player of the Year selection by the Denver Post. After four years, the high school prep's career ended as the third all-time leading scorer in Colorado state history, amassing 2,369 points and a four-time all-conference selection. Worley also led the Lions to the 1990 2A Colorado State Championship.

Worley and his wife Sarah have four children: Raeghan, Rachel, Drew and Nora Rose.
