Red cloth with gilt titles, light spotting to covers, 9 x 6 inches, frontispiece portrait plus 3 pp. of plates, xxii., 205 clean pp., including index. With Nihil Obstat & Imprimatur. Reverend Mother Catherine Aurelia of the Precious Blood (Aurelia Caoutte), Canadian-born nun and founder of the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood. Born in Lower Canada (now Quebec) in 1833, she early devoted her life to God and waited for direction on how best to serve Him. In 1859 the bishop of Montreal suggested to her that she found an order to venerate the blood of Christ. The new order was founded in 1861 with four women; by 1866 their were 18 sisters and 9 novices; by 1902 there were an additional 10 convents. Seller Inventory # 8820
