48 (of 50) volume set. Bound in full leather. Stamped with 22kt gold gilt design on cover front, back and spine. All edges gold. Silk moire fabric end papers. Satin ribbon place holder. Fine binding and cover. Clean, unmarked pages. For more than 30 years, the Easton Press has been the standard for finely bound, profusely gilt classic leather bindings. The original series first appeared in 1909, then re-issued in 2001 in this deluxe Easton Press leatherbound version, in their Millenium Edition/Eliot Edition. Dr. Eliot believed the Harvard Classics would supply a reader with a liberal education if only they would work their way down a "five-foot shelf of books" containing essential classical writings, from Frankin's Autobiography to Darwin's Origin of Species to notable English poetry.
