A propos de cet article
An early 20th century issue of this interesting American magazine. Contains the second printing of the Quest of Iranon by HP Lovecraft. The first was in the Galleon in 1935. Both printings are extremely scarce. Weird Tales was an American fantasy and horror fiction pulp magazine. It was first established in March 1923 and its most recent publication was Spring 2014. A scarce edition of the magazine. This edition was edited by Farnsworth Wright who began editing the publication in November 1924 until March 1940. In total he edited 179 issues during the magazine's peak in its publication. With the cover art by Virgil Finlay, a famous and popular American pulp fantasy, horror and science fiction illustrator. Finlay is instrumental in the pulp magazine history, with one of the foremost contributors to the genre. His work has also been regarded as very imaginable, memorable and original with his cross hatching and scratch board techniques. This work contains stories by many notable pulp fantasy and horror writers such as Duane W Rimel, Clifford Ball, August W Derleth, H P Lovecraft, Ralph Milne Farley and Manly Wade Wellman. Lovecraft is a notable author as he achieved posthumous fame through his horror fiction works. His works were only published in magazines during his lifetime and he died in poverty. However, he is now regarded as one of the most significant 20th century authors in this genre. The work of his to this volume is his The Quest of Iranon, which was first published four years earlier in Galleon magazine. Illustrated throughout, with numerous vignettes. In original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart with some chipping to the bottom edge of both front and rear wrap, heavier to front wrap. Loss to the head and tail of spine and to the external top corner of rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned due to paper used but clean throughout. Good. N° de réf. du vendeur MOD2-G-1
