Enter Immortal Weapons. While Danny Rand is still present in the two final tales, the enigmatic warriors from 5 of the other Capital Cities of Heaven take center stage. While these characters were touched upon in the Iron First series, most are little more than a name. This volume attempts to flesh these characters out, with varying degrees of success.
Fat Cobra starts things off with some one of the better stories. He's something like a Kung-Fu version of Marvel's Hercules, obsessed with drinking, women, and beating people up. His good nature is what makes him so likeable, but his origins are as sad as Danny's. Tiger's Beautiful Daughter and Dog Brother #1 are also enjoyable, reading like the tales of past Iron Fists in previous volumes.
The Bride of the 9 Spiders' story actually has very little to do with the character. It reads like a Lovecraftian horror tale (and a decent one at that) but the character is barely explored at all. Instead, she is treated like one of Lovecraft's creatures, something to be summoned by foolish sorcerers. A group of thieves are hired to steal The Singing Spider from a master of the occult, but things have already gone south by the time they arrive. The group discovers that the Spider's Song weakens the barriers between our world and the Bride's. The Bride finally returns to collect her spider, and departs just as quickly. While I was hoping to get more insight into the character, I still enjoyed the story, but if anything, it raises more questions than it answers.
The story of the Jon Amon, Prince of Orphans, at least features the other worldly martial artist. However, don't expect to learn where the powerful hero gained his powers from, or anything much about his motivations. He and Iron Fist must defeat a gigantic dragon and an army of 10,000 ghosts. Fun stuff, and filled with over the top action.
The volume ends with a story about Danny Rand and one of his students at the School of Thunder who gets involved in inner city gang violence. It's not bad at all, and a nice way to wrap up the volume. However, I can't recommend this book to everyone. If you're an Iron Fist junkie like myself, you'll enjoy the hell out of it. Others just getting into the series should start with earlier volumes, then decide if this is right for them or not. The volume is not necessary to the overall story of the Iron Fist, but those who skip it will be missing out on some very entertaining tales.

Fat Cobra, Dog Brother, Bride of nine Spiders, Prince of Orphans, Tiger's beautiful Daughter... all diese Waffen ist geben ihre Origin preis.
