Tank Girl: The Odyssey (Tank Girl (Graphic Novels)) Paperback – July 1, 2003

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 77 ratings

A twisted take on Homer’s classical Greek epic, The Odyssey, brought to you by Peter Milligan (X-Statix) and Tank Girl co-creator and artist, Jamie Hewlett (Gorillaz), the Tank Girl Odyssey makes a few "minor" changes to the original...

...Booga, husband of Tank Girl, is being wooed by countless Hollywood producers, and without his wife there his resolve is crumbling. Tele, their TV-headed son, knows that he must contact his mother... setting off a chain of events that will see Tank Girl face death itself, the siren call of gothic rock, a cyclopean hotel proprietor, and a host of other scenes and characters from The Odyssey... given the — ahem — "idiosyncratic" Tank Girl treatment!

I'm really glad I got this book. It's funny and the art is good and it kinda does follow "The Odyssey". It was made after the horrible movie, so there's cracks in the story about it. The staff is included as characters (poor Jamie). I guess I should add that it's not for small children. But, if you're getting a "Tank Girl" you probably know that already. For me, a 43 yr old geek girl, this was the perfect thing to unwind and lighten up after stressful days. BLOOD AND SNOT!!

Really great book, just as absurd as all the other volumes and just as much fun. You should really just get the remastered version if you can't find a copy of this version for less that $15. I have no clue what is up with these crazy prices in the hundreds.

again, i love tank girl and all her crazy antics which is why i rate this so high. but fusing tank girl and the odyssey was almost as painful as reading apocalypse. i love the fact this still has the original illustrator, but you can't replace original tank girl stories

Pretty much what you should be reading your daughter for a bed-time story to grow her into the true badass she has the potential to be. Then buy her a tank. Great comic, great art.

This comic is essentially a "Tank Girl" version of the Odyssey. We start out with Tank Girl having been at a party for years at "Troy's house," when Booga (kangaroo bf) is given an offer by a movie agent to be made a "much bigger star than Tank Girl." Meanwhile, Tank Girl assembles a crew (various cast regulars and cameos by the creators) to get back in time to slaughter Booga's suitor and must overcome obstacles such as Tankie's dead mother, a hotel that only accepts payments in eyeballs, a goth-rock band called "The Sirens" and more. What I think is admirable about this is that Alan Martin, co-creator and usual writer of Tank Girl, stepped out and was replaced with Peter Milligan for this story. Peter Milligan, with fairly limited knowledge of Tank Girl, managed to capture the essence of Tank Girl and also wove an interesting "Tank Girl/punk rock/bogjoke" interpretation of the Odyssey. This book, like the other remastered editions I've reviewed, has an introduction from the author (a different author this time) as well as an additional comic about Tank girl and Booga camping out in Arlington National Cemetery. The story for Tank Girl Odyssey isn't too bad, although there are times when you can almost tell that it's being written by someone else (mainly because it doesn't end with Alan Martin's usual "then she takes acid and blows up the planet" type of ending). As for the content, it's the usual immature substance abuse, drinking, toilet humor, femme fatale act you'd expect from Tank Girl. The Odyssey reference is also pretty interesting for those of you who aren't uncultured swine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tank Girl!

A leitura é bem engraçada e rápida. Os quadros de Hewlett deixam com uma vida incrível seus personagens.
O roteiro é bom e a arte majestosa.
