James Schucker

James W. Schucker (1903 - 1988) was active/lived in Pennsylvania.  James Schucker is known for Abstract, realist genre, illustrator.

From Quakertown, Pennsylvania, James Schucker showed early art talent. He was born in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and at the age of 16, took top honors in the International Water Color Show in Chicago. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Grand Central Art School with illustrator Harvey Dunn.

The challenge of magazine illustration took him away from the fine-art field. He work included covers for the Saturday Evening Post, Redbook, and numerous other magazines.

In the 1930s, he moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania where he lived on a 170 acre farm, raised sheep, and painted canvases, murals, and ran an art school in Quakertown.

One of his major works was a 48-foot mural depicting the growth of the P. Lorillard Company in Greensboro, North Carolina
