Leo Nowak

Leo Nowak (1907 - 2001) was active/lived in California, Ohio, New Jersey.  Leo Nowak is known for Portrait painting, cartoons-Superman, commercial artist.

Born on Dec. 24, 1907, Leo Nowak joined Joe Shuster's studio in 1940 and replaced Paul Cassidy on the Superman comic.  He drew the comic until 1943 and then served as a battalion artist during the remainder of WWII. 

After the war he moved to southern California and soon settled in Inyokern, where he illustrated political cartoons for the Daily Independent.  He died there on January 6, 2001.

Exhibition:
California Art Club, 1955 (1st prize).
