Former Glee star Chord Overstreet released a remix of his song “Hold On” on Friday (May 19), marking his first collaboration with house duo Deepend.
“Lyrically this song means a lot to me and I wanted to see how creating new musical textures would allow it to have fresh meaning and emotion. I like the idea of a song lending itself to different interpretations and having melodic flexibility,” Overstreet says in a press release announcing the remix.
With lyrics like, “ Hold on I still want you/ Come back I still need you,” the track captures the ups and downs of relationships. The original version appeared on the series finale of the Vampire Diaries in March 2017.
“The picture I wanted to paint was the unconditional love of that person regardless of whatever happens…even though something may end, it’s kind of always haunting you,” Overstreet said.
