BIO

A Chicago native raised in a large Catholic family, Mike was instilled with a strict sense of discipline by some of the most feared nuns in the archdiocese. This old school work ethic prepared him well for the rigors of life as a storyboard artist.
After honing his skills at the American Academy of Art, Mike did a bit of everything - comics, oil portraits, T-shirt design, watercolor house portraits, schoolbook illustration…. until he reckoned he should start making a living. Sequential art encoded in his DNA, he naturally gravitated to storyboards.
His big break came at Ogilvy & Mather when his boss/mentor, the legendary Rudi Klimpert, broke his own thumb and had to give more work to his protégé, who became an agency favorite. In due course, Mike went freelance, repped by his brother Steve’s agency. The rest is history, with countless numbers of happy clients attesting to his professionalism and the high quality of his work.
Mike resides on the NW side of town with his artist/gardener wife Pam, a couple of cats, and a lizard. When he's not working or socializing he's often found sitting at his Baldwin upright plunking out an old Tin Pan Alley tune or crooning a self-penned ditty. No one expects him to ever finish his graphic novel.
