Dr. Ken Aston, 68, of Jonesboro, AR., passed away at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House on Friday, March 19, 2010.

Ken was born in Jonesboro, AR., to J.E. "Monk" and Melba Aston.

He was co-valedictorian of Jonesboro High School in 1959. Ken was a member of Kappa Alpha Phi fraternity at ASU. He was of the Church of Christ belief.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. Ken joined the Air Force and interned in Hawaii and San Antonio, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Ken was a doctor of radiology, being the first radiologist at Craighead Memorial Hospital (now NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital) and serving for a while as chief of staff. He was a member of the American Medical Association.

Ken is survived by his two sons, James Kenneth Aston Jr. of Phoenix and Cyril Edward Aston of Jonesboro; his father, J.E. "Monk" Aston of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren, Alexis Aston Hunter and Kayla Aston.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Melba Aston, in December 2009.

Funeral service were held in the chapel of Langford-Bookout Funeral Home with Winston Burton officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
