Three stories (over issues 1 to 8) by three writers set in and around the night time, with Lee Weeks's Snowstorm in New York story being by far the best (issues 1 to 3). Just a meagre Two Stars 4 out of 12 overall though. I read the comic books.

Daredevil: Dark Nights is a collection of three short stories, none of which are very good.

In Lee Weeks’ Angels Unaware, Daredevil must retrieve a donor heart for a little girl’s transplant surgery in the middle of a snowstorm while helping others along the way. It’s a slow-moving narrative that’s not very exciting though Weeks’ art is quite good - and this is the best of the three stories!

I love Stray Bullets but David Lapham cannot write Daredevil comics. His Daredevil/Punisher book was atrocious and his contribution here, A Man Named Buggit, is equally awful. A ten inch gnome wants revenge on some gangster? Pitiful.

Jimmy Palmiotti and Thorny Silas’ In the Name of the King closes out the book with Daredevil teaming up with Misty Knight to protect a witness in a mob trial in Miami. The action is rote and predictable and Daredevil and Misty never feel like they’re in any real danger, getting through the waves of gangsters coming at them with ease. Misty also does it all in a bikini, giving off a strong Foxy Brown vibe - I guess she’s Marvel’s blaxploitation character?

Three terrible Daredevil stories, all of them uninteresting, forgettable and overlong - Dark Nights is definitely not worth bothering with!

Review and summary at https://amanjareads.com/2021/12/28/da...

Daredevil: Dark Nights is an 8 issue run that includes three separate stories. The first one is about DD waking up with amnesia that the story kind of forgets is there and he needs to run across New England to get a young girl her heart transplant. The second is about a man the size of a gun that DD is chasing because of the reasons. And the third is a Miami set action rom com between DD and Misty Knight. Each is worse than the last.

The first story is just kind of lame and includes too much of the religious nonsense Daredevil is attached to but it's just random bible quotes so it doesn't even tie to a commentary about anything. He doesn't fight some bad guy, he just runs around on this mission he's given himself the second he wakes up in the hospital for a reason we never get.

The second story is just dumb. It's so dumb. It's one of the dumbest things I've ever read. A tiny little man, described as being 10 inches tall, which would make him the smallest person ever in the history of the world, steals evidence and can run really fast and jump up buildings to outpace Daredevil. With his 4 inch legs. Some other stuff also happens but it's all just groan out loud dumb.

The third story is also dumb but has the bonus of being offensive! Matt Murdock is in Miami for a law case, he runs into Misty Knight on the beach in her bikini and they immediately start flirting. Then they do some action stuff that involves DD forcefully kissing a naked woman and Misty almost getting raped. (Sorry that's kind of a spoiler but this issue sucks so I don't care that much). Basically, everything that's wrong with female representation in comics all in three short issues.

I do not, cannot, will not recommend this Daredevil run to anyone. It is a hard pass.

This collections was made up of three separate storylines. The first one from Lee Weeks was the best, showing Daredevil battling a snowstorm in order to recover a replacement heart for a dying little girl. The second one was okay but a little silly with Daredevil chasing a ten inch tall man around the city first to recover some evidence than to save lives. The third story co-starred Misty Knight and saw Daredevil in Miami protecting a witness from a drug lord. This one made Daredevil and Misty look like two horny teenagers from a sex comedy and that aspect didn't work at all. If you can overlook that absurdity it wasn't bad.

I would have given the Lee Week story five stars but the other two dropped the rating slightly. The art wasn't an issue was it was good in every story. Nothing great here but Daredevil fans would probably enjoy it.

Can't stop my Daredevil binge.

This bind-up includes three separate stories. The first one is by far the best and worth a read on its own since it has no ties to any overarching plots. The other two have their moments but are pretty mediocre elsewise.

A deeply pointless, uninteresting collection of Daredevil short stories by authors with styles that don't complement each other in any way. This feels like each creative team individually pitched a short Daredevil story, Marvel didn't know what to do with them, so they just dumped them into the "Dark Nights" series and released them all. Each of these stories is BEGGING to be a single-issue one-off, as well, and dragging them out to two and three issues makes them feel interminable. Each story manages to be corny and heavy-handed in a totally different way than the previous one, which is a feat in and of itself. I can only imagine Marvel released this as a way to have an extra DD title on the shelf when the Netflix show debuted, because pretty much nothing about this works. Skip it.

I had high hopes for this collection of Daredevil stories because the character is well-suited for short stories both as a superhero but especially as a lawyer. The first story is a bit talkative but has some nice drama with the worst storm in New York history. Daredevil trying to help a young girl get a heart transplant is an example of him going above and beyond when very few people would. The next two stories are both a little cheesy for different reasons. The second one is about a case involving a tiny man who can jump many times his height like a flea who Matt has to chase around New York. While we're supposed to care about Daredevil trying to do the right thing, the premise is too silly and the author doesn't make you care enough about any of the characters enough to make that happen. The third one involves Misty Knight who hits on Matt a lot which got old especially when they say things that kind of sound like innuendo but really isn't. The villain is pretty twisted for a superhero comic but the rest of it is just cheesy and makes little logical sense. The art is the weakest in this volume and even taking Matt to the beach and to Cuba really doesn't make this story all that exciting.

This collection of stories is sadly mostly forgettable and while it isn't bad, it isn't as good as I hoped it would be. There are much better Daredevil stories out there and I find this one hard to recommend.

That title makes me laugh. I'm unsure of the impetus for this mini-series. Was Mark Waid hogging all the Daredevil and other people wanted to play with him? This mini-series is actually three short stories (mini-mini-serieses?) by different creative teams.

First, Lee Weeks shows us that he, and only he, should be illustrating Daredevil. I mean, look at that cover. I originally thought this was a collection of older works because that cover looks like a classic Miller/Janson cover, or maybe early JRJr and Janson or Palmer. But no, that's contemporary Lee Weeks. In the story, after getting beat up, Daredevil ventures out into a snowstorm to retrieve a donor heart. It's a test-of-human-endurance type of story, very dramatic and a bit over-the-top.

This is followed by a David Lapham story in which Daredevil tries to catch a ten-inch tall thief. It starts humorous but takes a more serious turn by the end.

And then a story by Jimmy Palmiotti and Thony Silas. I've never liked Palmiotti's writing: too many words on a page, clunky characterization, women are required to remove at least half of their clothing before showing up. This is a team-up with Misty Knight. They go up against a Cuban drug lord. There's a weird balance of humor and drama in this one, along with a lot of awkward flirting.

Overall I would have preferred a longer story by Lee Weeks.

That's a generous Three-Star rating. If you're a Daredevil completist, then you'll definitely want this. Otherwise, it's non-essential. While I enjoyed these stories in spite of their silliness (2 of 3), I wouldn't recommend this collection to anyone wanting to explore the character for the first time. Daredevil is my favorite Marvel hero, and his past treatments by Miller, Bendis and Brubaker are especially worth your time. However, if regular readers were looking for a break in the usual dramatic tension that comes with Daredevil fare, then here's your refreshment.
The art is better than the stories, as might be expected when two of the three stories are written and illustrated by one person. "Angels Unaware" by Lee Weeks is the best of the bunch, and provides some touching moments. It's also the only story here that goes into the heart and soul of what makes Daredevil a memorable character. David Lapham's "A Man Named Buggit" is cartoonish in both story and illustration. I did appreciate it enough to laugh, but it's essentially a throwaway tale - - enjoy it in the moment and then forget about it. "In The Name Of The King", written by Jimmy Palmiotti with art by Thony Silas is the most retro of the trio, and reads like it was pulled right from the late 1970's / early 1980's Marvel era.

Praktycznie od razu zostaje uprowadzony i trzeba go ratować.

I was expecting Dark Nights to be this mini-series covering a single story like Daredevil Redemption, so I was pretty surprised that it turned out to be a bit of an anthology series covering about three distinct story arcs. The first one really captured the Dark Nights theme and had Daredevil trying to find a downed helicopter in a snowstorm because it contains a donor heart meant for a little girl. This was classic Daredevil against everything down to the elements and is a good example of the character at this best.

The second arc was a little weird involving an unlikely culprit stealing a key piece of evidence in a case.

The last story wasn't dark at all and involved the fabulous and sassy Misty Knight bumping into Daredevil in Cuba and ending up in a team-up adventure together. It may not have been a thematic story, but it was a fun one and a great showcase of the two characters really getting along amid the fighting and running for their lives sort of moments.

I don't have much experience with Daredevil comics. But i honestly think it can be a lot better than this. I felt like all three stories have weak plots. The first one, has a good one, saving a little girl's life. But it happens so many things that this is just left behind, it feels unimportant when he is able to pull it off. The second one is just bad. I don't think the plot is awful, but focusing on how the little guy is little is just boring, the motivation of the characters is not good as well. I like the third one, but the girls are wayyyy more sexualized than they should be, and as another review said, the main characters seem to not be in danger in any moment, which is uninteresting for a plot.

Three short Daredevil stories—one of redemption, one of pacifism, and one of. I’m not really sure what the moral of that last one was but Matt was being a slut as always so there’s that. Nice to know that he calls his pack a billy club 💀
I think the stories kind of got weaker as they went on, as the first one had the very strong theme of Matt in his depression after Karen’s death and his relentless nature to do good. The second one was shorter and much more lighthearted, as Mat pursues a 10 inch tall man who is trying to avenge the framing of his brother, and the last is Matt and Misty teaming up to take down a kingpin in Cuba. They were all interesting side stories, but i very much see why they’re side stories.

Angel’s Unaware - It’s a good Daredevil story but nothing much. Shows how determinate and powerful he can be when he sets his mind into something - also very stubborn.

A Man Named Buggit - I don’t know if this story was meant to be funny, but I think it’s hilarious.

In the Name of the King - Meh

Bought this for the first story in the collection, about Daredevil trying to make sure a heart gets delivered for a girl who needs a transplant in the middle of a snowstorm. It didn’t disappoint at all, especially Lee Weeks’ wonderful art. But also, more stories about superheroes just trying to do good things?

The first arc by Lee Weeks was by far the strongest, with gorgeous, gorgeous art coupled with a pretty good story. I usually like Lapham's work, but his story was a little WTF for me. And the last arc was just really meh. So unfortunately, everything else apart from the first tale drags the volume down.

One of my favorite DD limited arcs. Was a lot of fun to revisit. Lee Weeks is a fantastic storytelling artist. He knows Matt Murdock through and through. In this story he puts hornhead through some serious trials and tribulations as he tries to save the life of a young girl in need of a heart transplant during a near catastrophic snowstorm. A fabulous read with amazing art to accompany the tale.
