Bad Signal Walkthrough
Like all the other story missions, you'll need to find the Bad Signal Exfil logo, which can be found at F6.
Before you enter the portal, we recommend you have the following:
- Wunderwaffe DG-2
- Ray Gun
- Jugger-Nog (perk)
- Quick Revive (perk)
- Speed Cola (perk)
- PHD Flopper (perk)
- Stamin-Up (Perk)
- At least one level three Pack A Punch gun
- At least one level two Pack A Punch gun
- Self-Revive (Have at least three in your Rucksack)
- 3 Plate Vest
- Decoy Grenade
- Juggernaut
- Sentry Turret
Now, upon entering the portal, you'll face off against level 2 zombies and will immediately be tasked with Breaking The Seals. There'll be four that you'll have to break, and it doesn't matter in what order you do it.
Each seal will require you to kill a specific number of zombies within a small radius of the statue. It's also worth noting that every time you start one, in addition to killing normal zombies, you'll also be tasked with killing special zombies, which include Mimics, Manglers, and Disciples.
To help ensure you don't get overrun by zombies, you'll want to either use Decoy grenades to lure the normal zombies away from you or use the Wunderwaffle to kill them all in one attack. Now, as soon as you've dealt with all the regular zombies, focus your attention on the special zombies and kill them as fast as possible.
Upon breaking all four seals, you'll be tasked with leaving the Dark Aether.
How to Defeat the Red Worm
The Red Worm, aka Gorm'gant, will appear when you arrive on the beach to escape. Gorm'gant will have a similar move set as Orcus from Defeat Zakhaev. We recommend placing some turrets down to give an extra boost in damage when Gorm'gant first comes out of the ground.
Now, when it comes to Gorm'gant's main attacks, he'll rotate between the following attacks during the fight.
- Slam Attack
- Digs In The Ground And Reappears - If this attack hits you, it'll send you flying in the air.
- Laser Attack
- Shoots Orbs That'll Attack You Until They're Destroyed - This only happens when Gorm'gant is at half health.
- Eat You - To counter this attack, shoot its mouth before it finishes the attack.
Most of its acts are difficult to predict. But you'll know when it's about to shoot a laser beam out when you see its head look up. As soon as that happens, its body will begin to glow purple, and shortly after that, it'll shoot its laser.
Unlike Orcus, there won't be much room you can use for cover. So, if you're playing by yourself, you'll need to constantly be moving because the second you stand still, you'll leave yourself open for an attack.
Similar to the Orcus fight, Gorm'gant will have giant purple spots that will glow. This is Gorm'gant's weak spot, so you'll inflict even more damage if you shoot it. That said, you can still damage it even if you don't shoot the purple spots. But it'd be in your best interest to shoot them when you can.
Like the Orcus boss fight, you'll also have to deal with normal zombies when the worm appears. So, if you find yourself getting overrun by them, don't panic. When that happens, throw a Decoy Grenade to lure them away from you or use your Wunderwaffe to kill them all at once.
If you have more than one person with you for this fight, make sure you're both down at the beach and split up so the worm can't attack both of you in one hit. But if you have more than two, have at least one person next to the restroom above, and use them as support in case someone needs to be revived if they run out of self-revives.
Since there's virtually no cover during this boss fight, there's a good chance you'll get knocked down. If that happens, don't bother calling in your teammates to revive you; simply use one of the many self-revive kits you have. This is why we recommended earlier to have so many on hand.
But if you're playing alone, use this time to create distance between you and the Zombies. Once you feel safe, revive yourself and heal before you get back into the fight.
As soon as Gorm'gant is killed, the giant worm-like creature will drop plans for a Ray Gun and the V-R11. But it'll only drop one for the whole party, so make sure you pick it up before one of your buddies does. You'll also be able to pick up the Locked Diary from a reward Rift.
Now that you've killed the Red Worm, all that's left for you to do is take the portal and leave.
This will trigger a cutscene that'll give you more details on what you can expect in the Dark Aether Saga.
