The Big 12 Conference admits that officials made errors at the end of regulation play in the Iowa State University basketball loss to Kansas Monday night in Ames.Iowa State led by 5 points with less than a minute to go in regulation when several ref calls went against the Cyclones.In particular, a Jayhawk drove into the lane and ran over Cyclone Georges Niang, who appeared to be well-planted.  The ref did not call a charging foul but then whistled Niang for a foul while players scrambled for the ball while on the floor.  Regulation ended in a tie, with Kansas pulling away in overtime to win 108-96.The Big 12 statement says "The Big 12 Conference acknowledges that officiating errors were made at the end of regulation during last night's Kansas and Iowa State men's basketball game.  The plays have been reviewed and appropriate measures will be taken by the Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officials to adjust the number of future assignments for the two officials involved in conjunction with Conference policies."  The Big 12 said "This will be the only public statement by the Conference on this matter."In other words, the refs will be punished but the final score stands.After the game, ISU coach Fred Hoiberg chose his words carefully.  "I can't get too much into that call," Hoiberg said.
