Larry Englehart attended the School of Visual Arts, and was working for comics during the 1960s and 1970s. He assisted Don Sherwood on his 'Dan Flagg' comic about a US Marine for the McNaught Syndicate around 1963. He worked on the romance comic books published by Charlton Comics in the 1960s and 1970s, and also wrote and drew a couple of stories for 'Ghostly Tales'. Englehart has also written stories for James Warren's horror magazine Creepy in 1972. In addition to his modest career in comics, he was active as an advertising artist.
