Frank Tinsley was the illustrator of the Street & Smith pulp aviation series 'Bill Barnes' from 1934. The stories, written by George L. Eaton (in fact a pseudonym for a succession of writers), appeared in Bill Barnes, Air Adventurer and later Air Trails.
Tinsley left the feature in the late 1930s, and went on to do the 'Yankee Doodle' newspaper comic, which was soon retitled to 'Captain Yank'. This strip appeared from 1940 to 1945. In the 1950s, he wrote and illustrated articles on futuristic scenarios for publications such as Mechanix Illustrated and science fiction magazines like Amazing Stories.
