Having had the last two cars for 5 months ( Fiesta ST) and 4 months ( Golf GTi), I decided to spend a little less money and go for something a bit older this time.

So roll up this 2005 R53 Cooper S. In rare (probably for a reason) purple and 2 owners from new, 80k miles didn't seem too bad. It came complete with wood steering wheel and dash so this week I've replaced the wheel and dash panels with those more normal in a Cooper S, just the gearstick to swap out now. Complete with the lovely glass sunroof and Chili pack it isn't full of options but has the important ones (for me!)

Some pics, as ever...:

Is that a private plate on it then? I quite like that colour.

Yes, though not mine - came with the car.
Thanks - I've liked the colour since it was first released!

Always loved this colour on these! Never seen a wooden wheel either.

I'd be putting a better private plate on of removing it!

Love the purple, but it is pretty rare.

Was looking for an R53 One or Cooper for my sister recently and only 3 colours were allowed, Racing green, purple or red, but she was insistent upon no white chequered or flag mirrors, stripes or roofs!

Red Cooper came up first so that is what she now has and she loves it (an S would have been wasted on her)!

Enjoy!

Great looking car! I absolutely love this colour! We have a grey MCS - the only colour we wanted, other than Purple, but they're so rare! Personally, rid of the stripes, it would be perfect!

I got one of these on Friday! What a cool little car. Feels very much like my previous Clio 182 but way more grown up.

Mine a 2002 in grey. Packed full of options including nav, which I believe is rare! also has a 'one ball' exhaust which appeals to my inner chav. Has questionable after market wheels which I'd ditch.... But they have brand new Eagle F1's!

Since I've had this for just over 5 months, I thought I'd update the post a bit. I've done about 6,000 miles since I picked up the Mini, including a trip with two friends and a Z4M to Switzerland & Italy in early July. I've still not changed the gearstick to remove the wood.
It passed its MOT in September and I recently had the rear brakes replaced. Looking forward to more driving and stories with it over the winter.

And I also took off the cherished plate that was on it, replacing it with my own:

Lovely. We've just got rid of a Mini Cooper S. a decision I'm starting to regret. They are great cars and a fun drive. I like the purple too.
