HUNGARIAN ODE TO AMRITA
To celebrate the legacy of iconic artist Amrita Sher-Gil, an exhibition in Delhi put on display works by Hungarian artist Ildiko Morovszki-Halasz.
Sher-Gil, who was half Hungarian, is known for being a pioneer of modern art. Halasz’s works are influenced by Sher-Gil’s famous oil paintings. The exhibit also includes Halasz’s works that have been inspired by her life in India — her home for the past two years.
The opening of the exhibition saw the presence of Gyula Petho, ambassador of Hungary to India, and artist Shampa Sircar Das among others.
