Professor was fine, but terrible TA.

Professor Shoemaker is a passionate teacher and clearly has an incredible amount of knowledge in his respective field. He was always accessible through email, with quick responses, and helped me understand why I was misunderstanding certain concepts. We read through the Anthropology of Religion, which had great applications to the class.

Super easy class! Great professor and the lectures were interesting. TA does all the grading and was inconsistent. I got comments like "That was irrelevant," when, if they had read the whole assignment I turned in, they would have seen that it wasn't irrelevant at all. You can tell the professor knows a lot about the subjects & his passion shows.

Professor Shoemaker was great! The course was easy to navigate and assignments were clearly understood. He was great at communicating promptly and fair with grading. This course was an awesome experience!

He has good lectures and provides the reading material. There is an essay every week that start at 600 words and go to 1000. TAs grade and they're tough graders. I think I'm a good writer but I'm given so many grammar errors each week and average a B per paper. It seems like you're graded more on how well you can write and not about the material.

I took this class to fulfill the C requirement, it's honestly kind of a lot of work with all the reading, lectures, movies, tests, and discussion posts. I could get the work done in a day, but it was still a pain. Discussion prompts were vague and could be confusing at times. Easy A but you will have to do quite a bit of work.

Super easy class. About four readings, two lectures, and a 2ish hour movie per week, and classwork consists of a 25 multiple choice quiz and a 400 word essay response. Very strict on deadlines, but put in effort and you should do fine. Overall not difficult and but also a very interesting class.

Super easy class. Only one unit test and a 300 word discussion post a week. Reading can be quite tedious with the different materials, but it wasn't hard at all. I would recommend. The hardest part was some critical thinking and analysis for the discussion post, but once you figure it out it's easy. I finished weekly homework in an hour and 30.

I enjoyed the different types of assignments. It made the course fun and challenging. I also enjoyed the material covered.

Prof. Shoemaker offers a unique perspective that is very informational and intriguing. Although his TAs grade all of the assignments, his lectures are very interesting and I did learn a great deal from them. Homework criteria sometimes confusing but if you read the instructions you'll be fine. I would def. recommend Shoemaker for a fun class.

25 multiple choice quiz and response of about 400 words is due every week about the module. Modules have a movie to watch and sometimes there are questions about the movie in the quizzes. Modules include watching lectures and reading about 30-40 pages of the book. I found this to be boring because I don't like writing but very informative class!

Amazing professor. Just one quiz and one small discussion post. Manageable workload for an online class. I highly recommend taking professor shoemaker

Great class for Cultural + Hu credit. 1 small writing and quiz a week. You dont really need to watch the movies. Prof stays out of politics overall and doesn't preasure students. Overall 10/10 easy online class to snag an A.

Dr. Shoemaker was a great professor to learn from. All of the assignments in this class were simple, based on a weekly assigned textbook reading and a max of two lecture videos. He drops the lowest quiz and assignment score as well. I definitely recommend taking this class for a simple elective that won't take up much of your time.

Professor Shoemaker's personality, style of teaching, and feedback are all unique. I loved this class! You get to watch movies, and the material being taught is open for interpretation. As long as your writing points are backed up to support your ideas, you will get a good grade! The only reason I got a B and not an A is my own laziness.

This is my second course with Professor Shoemaker and I couldn't recommend his courses enough. The material is extremely interesting, fun to read, and his energy/love for the course shows in every single lecture. Would honestly take every single class he has to offer just to learn more from him.

I took this class online over the summer, and it was so much fun. There were lots of thought provoking questions and assignments and it was overall a great experience

summer no TAs would have gotten A Writing prompts seem to leave it open to your interpretation but there is a right answer figure out what you're "supposed" to write. class based on theories and opinion should be open to interpretation. one assignment is to refute a paper he wrote difficult to do as it is about BLM course not hard dont take in sum.

Shoemaker is a unique teacher. The course material he used was thought provoking and offered perspectives you wouldn't typically get. He also gave quality feedback on every discussion post. The class had lectures, podcasts, films, and readings which kept things fresh. Overall a great prof to take
