Crooked Knife

Crooked Knife

$255.00

Crooked Knives are the original Native American woodworking/multipurpose tool. The back of the blade is prepared similar to a drawknife and they are useful for making scrubbing planing cuts as well as finely shaving. There is enough curve to work over wood that is wider than the blade and the bent tip serves for gouging and making shallow hollows.

The handle is approximately 160mm long and will accommodate a user’s palm width from 80-105mm. Carved by Axe and knife from straight grained Birch wood with faceted oval cross section.

The approximately 95mm long blade is hammer forged from 1.2002/26c3 steel to a thin and springy 2mm thickness. Low convex grind with tiny second bevel - A very fast and light cutting geometry ideal for softwood like cedar but rugged and not shy of any North American hardwood.

Made with a great deal of respect and admiration for the original indigenous toolmakers who invented this tool. Small discount available to tribal members and educators as well as community canoe builds.

Attention: Item ships in approximately 2 Weeks - Knife is delivered with a simple cardboard sleeve protecting the edge.
