      Critics Consensus

Though Locke & Key at times struggles to strike a consistent tone, it captures enough of the essence of its source material to provide a fiendishly fun and sufficiently spooky time.

Aja Romano Vox Alas, that tonal shift regulates much of Locke & Key's original unhinged diabolical entertainment, and not for the better. Feb 19, 2020 Full Review John Doyle Globe and Mail Even as a distraction, Locke & Key looks like a misfire. The little guy Bode is a captivating character, but not as enchanting as any figure in Stranger Things. Feb 13, 2020 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Despite the first-rate production design of the first 10 episodes, the Netflix series seems to be in search of a tonal identity... Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 11, 2020 Full Review Norman Wilner NOW Toronto Based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez's grim comic books, this fantasy series finds interesting middle ground between Edward Gorey and Lemony Snicket Rated: 4/5 Mar 20, 2020 Full Review Steve Murray ArtsATL It's not just the kids. Stanchfield's performance is thin, but the worst of the adults is De Oliveira. She comes across as less of a demon and more of a smirking runway model. Mar 6, 2020 Full Review Kylie Klein-Nixon Stuff.co.nz Characters make illogical choices, the magic is annoyingly inconsistent and, for a show about magical keys that lend the holder strange and wonderful powers, they don't seem to get used very effectively or very often. Natnael B Amazing start i binged this season wow i really enjoyed it. The Drama family stuff and the whole thrilling worked for me it took me by surprise i hope it shall keep like this one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review Bob L By the middle of the first season, the series seems content to squander its considerable potential in favor of becoming some silly hybrid of Dawson's Creek, Harry Potter, and The Shining. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review It's Britney B The premise is nice: Several keys with magical powers, like a key you could use to get you anywhere you want. However, the characters make the most illogical, annoying and blatantly stupid decisions. For example, there was a killer hell bent on killing the entire family. They managed to somehow disarm the killer in the woods. Instead of taking the gun, and I don't know, maybe shooting the killer's knee caps off, or just even running away with it, one of the main characters just looked at it for a moment then ran. Or in several instances where it's time is of the essence, they just dilly dally and another character has to yell at them at least twice to "GO!!!" before they actually go. I mean, they were inside a dying character's head. "Oh no, he's dying," and proceeds to walk idly by. It's really frustrating and you just want to reach out through the screen and smack some sense into them. If you want to be frustrated to no end, watch this series. Otherwise, this is a major skip. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/24/24 Full Review Gareth v Dull. Over-styled and with a tedious script, not one of the better entries into what is becoming a crowded genre. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review Aderemi J Locke and key is the best tv series, me and my elder sister keep repeating this tv thrilling series,i recommend this series for teenagers and adults alike.I expect the rotten tomatometer 🍅 100% Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Sherzod p I understand kids are kids, but there is adults and there is teenagers which almost to be adults , its very low bad scenario movie, people's doing simple mistakes, which could be avoided in the first place and not having people getting died, actions of people is crazy.. there is a lot of things can be said, that's I just started even haven't reach the 2nd or 3rd season yet, its only in 1st season, total feels like whole scenario created the way ChatGPT used, I am sorry to say that but this is how it feels Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
