BOLIVAR, Mo. --
Two dominating performances highlighted the doubleheader between the SBU Bearcats and Truman State. After Truman's 6-0 shutout win in game one, the Bearcats came back with a 8-0 win in five innings. Nina Amaro-Garcia hit her sixth home run of the season to clinch the victory by run rule.

Third baseman Krysta Baderdeen, catcher Sarah Brison, and designated player Karly Batters combined for a 9-for-18 day at the plate, while scoring three runs between them in the second game. Pitcher Josie Rose threw the three-hit shutout, striking out three.

The Bearcats took command early in game two, batting through the order in the first inning. Five singles, a sacrifice fly from Devon McNeal, and a two-run error from Truman gave the 'Cats a 5-0 lead early on. The Bulldogs had chances to get back in the game, with bases loaded in the second and third innings, but Rose was able to get out of both jams, and ended the game retiring seven of the last eight Truman hitters.

SBU added to their lead in the third, when left fielder BreAnn Proctor reached on a two-out, infield hit. Proctor would come around to score on the very next at-bat, when Katrina Munoz tripled to right field, giving the 'Cats an 6-0 lead.

The Bearcat attack didn't cool down, and when Brison singled to lead off the fourth, it set the table to Amaro-Garcia, who hit a shot into the wind in deep center field that cleared the wall, making it an 8-0 SBU advantage. Rose shut the door with three ground ball outs, and SBU earned the split.

Baderdeen's two singles in the first inning of each game extends her hitting streak to 11 games, just one shy of the season high, set by her sister Latasha, earlier this season. Brison went 4-for-6, with two hits apiece in each game. Brison now has collected at least two hits in 11 games so far, just two fewer than Baderdeen, who has accomplished multiple hits in 13 games. Amaro-Garcia drove in two runs off her home run, which makes the sixth game she has had at least two RBI. Amaro-Garcia drove in 5 RBI against Missouri-St. Louis last month.

With the split, SBU moves to 13-23 on the year, and 2-8 in the MIAA. The Bearcats are back in action on Tuesday, April 13, when they host the Lincoln Blue Tigers for a doubleheader, starting at 2 pm.
