We know that catwalk debuts are no joke and it is all about how you style your strut. Fifteen-year-old Zaya Wade certainly understood the assignment ahead of her Miu Miu Paris Fashion Week debut with footage of her practicing her walk surfacing in Dwayne Wade’s latest TikTok. In the video, we get behind-the-scenes footage of Zaya using the Wade’s driveway as her own practice runway to nail her strut. It is certifiably the cutest!
On March 7th, Miu Miu’s Fall Winter 2023 show titled “WAYS OF LOOKING” took place at the iconic Palais d’lena. Zaya’s #BTS runway practice certainly paid off because the now-model strutted down the catwalk in confidence wearing an olive green sweater dress with a matching oversized jacket and clutching a caramel-colored leather bag. Known for being sophisticated and playful, the collection stayed true to its uniform featuring kitten-heel sling-backs, sheer chiffon tops, polka dots, and exposed tights. Alongside Zaya, the show included a stellar cast — Mia Goth, Rick Brakus, Ethel Cain, Amelia Gray, and Emma Corrin who closed the show. The show’s star-studded attendees included Kylie Minogue, Nicola Peltz, Dianna Agron, Jessica Alba, Beabadoobee and more.
When it comes to Zaya, undoubtedly, Dwayne Wade has been her biggest fan. When Zaya came out as trans in 2020, both him and her stepmother, Gabrielle Union, publicly announced their unconditional support. Following suit, at her PFW debut, both Dwayne and Gabrielle were spotted front row beaming with pride when Zaya stepped onto the runway. After the show, Dwayne posted the TikTok of Zaya practicing her walk with the caption “She’s Arrived.” Yes, she has! And she is here to stay. With only three months into 2023, it seems like Zaya already has a lot to celebrate this year. After a year of dealing court processes and procedures, she finally got her legal approval for her name change and gender assignment. And now, she can also successfully add runway model to her resume!
