Comic book lovers and art enthusiasts are in for a treat as comic artist Gerald DeCaire showcases his talent in two live drawing demonstrations on Saturday, October 28, at Veterans Memorial Library.

DeCaire will share his expertise during the workshop and guide participants through creating their own comics. The interactive workshop will cover character design, storyboarding, panel layout, and inking techniques. Participants will also have the opportunity to ink a page illustrated by DeCaire.

“We are excited to have Gerald present this workshop on drawing comics. He is an incredibly talented artist whose passion for comics is contagious. This is a great opportunity for comic enthusiasts, aspiring artists, and anyone looking to learn about the art of comics,” said Andrea Graham, family programming coordinator for Chippewa River District Library.

With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, DeCaire has proven himself in drawing and storytelling. He has worked with major publishers such as Marvel, and his work has been featured in various comic books and graphic novels.

During the event, attendees can see DeCaire in action as he creates an illustration from scratch. Attendees will also learn the process of coloring digital comics using layers and importing textures in Photoshop. DeCaire will also talk about careers in the comic field and what one must do to get started in the comic business.

This workshop is a must-attend for anyone interested in comics and will provide valuable insights and techniques for all levels. Registration is required. Visit www.crd.org or call (989) 773-3242 to register.
