Late last month, it was announced that veteran actors from the first season of the famous Japanese drama “Hana Yori Dango” will be reprising their roles in the second season. Indeed, the producers mean what they say when they dropped the hint that more cast members from the prequels will be joining the new season. One such character is none other than the leader of F4, Tsukasa Domyouji, who is played by Jun Matsumoto.

Although Matsumoto will only make an appearance in the first episode, not only did he finish reading the whole second season of the manga, he also gave Sho Hirano advice on portraying Haruto Kaguragi, the leader of C5: “Do it without overexerting yourself to act cool.” Matsumoto had truly fulfilled his duties as a senpai — not only in terms of the drama, but also the fact that they are from the same idol agency, Johnny & Associates.

While it appears that the two leaders do not share a common scene, Hirano mentioned that he was very touched when he had a sneak peek at Matsumoto’s part of the drama, “I was really close to tears. It’s like, ‘Wow, it’s Domyouji.’” Hirano also recalled chatting excitedly with co-actor Taishi Nakagawa, who plays Tenma Hase, a popular student council president in a rival school. Both of them were very impressed with Matsumoto’s acting.

“Hana Nochi Hare HanaDan Next Season” or “Boys Over Flowers Season 2” will be airing in Japan starting on 17 April. Meanwhile, hopes are still up for the other three of the Flower Four to grace this new season.
