McDonald's has a message for upset fans who were unsuccessful in the mad dash for Schezwan Sauce.

In a statement released by the fast food giant on Sunday, McDonald's acknowledged that its super-limited batch of novelty sauce "though well intentioned, clearly wasn't enough to meet demand. Not cool."

Outrage from fans of the sauce spread across social media over the weekend after they were turned away because the sauce was sold out.

To help remedy the situation, McDonald's announced that it is bringing the sauce back this winter. This time, it won't be limited to one day or select restaurants.

"We're bringing more," a statement reads. "A lot more. So that any fan who's willing to do whatever it takes for Schezwan Sauce will only have to ask for it at a nearby McDonald's. We want to make this right. You're some of the best fans in this, or any dimension, and we plan to deliver on that promise as soon as possible."

The savory and slightly sweet sauce with hints of soy, ginger, garlic, and slight vinegar notes was originally released as a promotional in 1998 for the Disney movie "Mulan."

Demand for the sauce was reignited after it appeared in an episode of the widely-popular animated series "Rick and Morty."
