The 100 season 4: Isaiah Washington leaving, won’t be season 5 regular

Isaiah Washington

As we approach The 100 season 5, there is one thing we know for certain — it’s not going to have Isaiah Washington as a series regular.

As first reported by TVLine, the CW series is going to be losing the Grey’s Anatomy alum. There is no word as of yet on how Jaha will be written out of the show or if he will be killed off. For now, the only thing that is confirmed at present is that he is departing.

In a new statement talking further about the departure of Washington, show executive producer Jason Rothenberg told the aforementioned website the following:

“We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have Isaiah Washington on The 100 for the past four seasons … He’s brought so much to the role of Jaha, and we love working with him.”

Last year, the show lost a prominent cast member in Ricky Whittle, who departed and eventually became a key cog in the Starz drama adaptation American Gods. They also had the departure of recurring guest star Alycia Debnam-Carey, whose character of Lexa became a fan favorite in a relatively short period of time. Losing Washington at this point is tough, even though Jaha was a fairly difficult character to pin down since he ventured all over the place over the course of the series’ run. By the time we get around to the finale this week, who knows what sort of character he will be? Will he be out for redemption, or have a very different focus?

One way or the other, we imagine that it is going to be interesting. It’s certainly possible that one way or another, we could see him return as a guest star. We’ve seen Isaiah take on that role on some other shows as of late, including the likes of Bull and Blue Bloods for CBS. Maybe he will be looking for a show that features a little bit of an older demographic in terms of both characters and viewers.
