I have been able to root some cuttings. This is my first attempt at rooting fig cuttings and I have been excited by the results. The roots are pushing thru to the top of the cups. The plastic cups are 16 oz and clear. The cuttings are still in plastic cups, at what point do I plant them into the ground. I realize that it is still cold here in ...rooting some cuttings - Figs 4 Fun Forum - Website Toolbox

I did learn something today, it is easy to mix up the cuttings. I may have mixed up one of the Black Mission cuttings with the white unknown cutting. I am in the Toronto area if anyone needs some of these cuttings once they have good root growth. I root cuttings in Sphagnum moss also and never have to add moisture. Soaking the moss for a whole day has been key for me getting good results. Usually I put the whole cutting within the moist atmosphere of the clamshell container. My cuttings tend to be in the 6" to 8" range mostly so they fit well in one of those bakery ...Advise needed on rooting cuttings

I am new to this forum and fascinated by figs so much that I have purchased some cuttings to try rooting. I have an issue with my cuttings throwing out healthy green leafs but I don't see any roots in the mixture of pearlite that I have used to root them in. These cuttings have been in the cup for 2-3 weeks going and I have been ...Rooting cutting for 1st time - Figs 4 Fun Forum - Website Toolbox

I've found over the past several years of rooting cuttings however, that when you can get the cuttings in relative abundance, it's often much less stressful and far less expensive to simply stick the scion in some seedling mix or soft garden soil mixture (compost and sand is my mix even and wait for it to begin to grow. Recently got amazing quality cuttings from these members. I wish I had taken photos to post, but too late now since they are already in 32 oz clear cups in the home made rooting mixture. Most of the cuttings were much thicker than a sharpie and super long! In fact I cut some of them in two, still with at least four nodes on ...How can I root the big cuttings? - Figs 4 Fun Forum - Website Toolbox

I would put the cutting directly into water when cut. Change the water every two days, and keep there for 7-10 days. Then plant in soil and keep moist. Rooting compound is a plus if you have it. Green cuttings can sprout quick, but die even faster. I have had them wilt and was sure they were dead, and they turned into nice ...Rooting cuttings in pan vs 3 cup system - Figs 4 Fun Forum ...

I have been online, particularly YouTube, looking at rooting methodology for cuttings. Two that peaked my interest were the three cup method, championed by Dave on the forum consisting a planting in a clear cup with drain holes. A clear cup tapped on top pressed into service as a humity dome creating a ...
