Pyramidal when young, upright rounded to broad-rounded habit with wide-spreading branches at maturity. Foliage is dark green changing in fall from brown to reddish-purple. Majestic native tree for large areas. Prefers full sun and is best grown in rich, moist, acidic, well-drained loams, although it will adapt to a wide variety of soil conditions and has good drought tolerance once established. Great for wildlife. Ohio Native
