Description
Acer palmatum ‘Ellen’ was introduced in the 1990s by Esveld Nursery of The Netherlands and is a reliable, strong-growing member of the Dissectum group. The new growth emerges a pale green in the spring before becoming darker in the summer months. The autumn brings an array of yellows and oranges depending on its position in the garden. Its habit is somewhere between weeping and spreading but whatever it is, it looks very attractive.
Looks really good in a container where the foliage can cascade over the sides but is equally impressive in the ground, particularly in a raised bed or on a rockery where its form can be admired from a higher elevation.
