Product details
This lovely small tree was raised at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden before being introduced into the UK in 1981.
Creamy yellow flowers emerge in April followed by full sized lush green leaves by the end of May. Magnolia x brooklynensis Yellow Bird can be grown as a bush or a single stemmed tree to show off its floral display to the full.
Like most Magnolias it prefers an acid rather than alkaline soil but it still performs well enough on a neutral ph of 7.
Its lush leaves turn to yellow in October. Magnolia x brooklynensis Yellow Bird thrives on free draining soils but dislikes waterlogged ground. Its fleshy white roots are surface growing so never plant Magnolia deep.
Mature height: 3-7m
