Lonicera heckrotti 'American Beauty' is a highly decorative honeysuckle with beautiful, strikingly coloured flowers. This Lonicera is an excellent climbing plant to liven up a wall or fence. Honeysuckle is known to spread a lovely scent, especially in the evening. This is no different for the American Beauty! The American Beauty blooms all summer long with unusual purple-red with yellow flowers. In autumn, the flowers are succeeded by small violet-black berries, which later turn blue-green. The American Beauty is hardy and deciduous and can grow up to 3 to 4 metres tall.
Care
Lonicera American Beauty prefers a sunny or semi-shaded position. It does well in any well-drained soil and is hardy. The plant can best be pruned in early spring. The old and damaged branches can then be pruned to the desired height, which stimulates the growth of new shoots.
