Native to North America.
A common birch found in eastern Canada and the United States growing as far south as northern Georgia, but more common in northern states and in higher elevations such as the Appalachian mountains. It is the official tree of Quebec. The tree has a yellow-bronze bark and is considered a valuable hardwood timber tree. The tree does best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist soil.
Size: Height 60 to 80 ft; Width 35 to 50 ft.
Germination Instructions
Stratification: Seeds require about 60 days cold stratification at 3° C (37° F) to 5° C (41° F).
When sowing seeds cover lightly since they need some light to germinate.
