“Saint Emilion” is a small, deciduous tree, grown for its lovely flowers, foliage, and great form. It produces clusters of ruffled, red flowers through summer in such abundance, they literally transform the plant. The showy flowers are complemented with lush foliage which emerges lime green in spring, ages to mid-green, then develops red, orange, and yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows with an upright habit to produce a compact and rounded crown as it reaches 3.5 m tall and 2.5 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this Crepe Myrtle are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. “Saint Emilion” is commonly grown as a small specimen tree, used in street or avenue plantings, included in courtyard or cottage gardens, or added to a mixed planting. This is a colourful plant that will bring a lot of pleasure.
