In contrast to most red maple cultivars, Redpointe was not only selected for its autumn colours. In comparison to other A. rubrum cultivars, the strength of Redpointe is its relatively slender crown form and the straight-growing main stem. The tree originated in a hybridisation programme intentionally designed to develop a tree with these qualities. It is a healthy, vigorously growing tree with a very regular crown. The summer leaf is a shiny dark green, turning a splendid bright red in autumn. Highly suitable as a street and park tree. Its growth will stagnate on calcareous soil. In such soil, as with very dry soil, the autumn change of colour will be less noticeable. Moderately tolerant of wind, with poor tolerance of sea wind.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2024.
Acer rubrum REDPOINTE ('Frank Jr.') can eventually reach a height of 10 - 15 m, fast growing, depending on the site and climate conditions.

The leaves of Acer rubrum REDPOINTE ('Frank Jr.') turn red in autumn.
The right time to plant Acer rubrum REDPOINTE ('Frank Jr.') is during the dormancy period. In Western Europe, Acer rubrum REDPOINTE ('Frank Jr.') with root balls can generally be planted from mid-November to late April, although this depends strongly on the climatic conditions and the species of tree.
